The Diamond Paws guild assembled in its digital clubhouse to review the latest patch notes. Improved menus passed without comment. A brighter inventory screen earned polite applause. Then the quartermaster reached the line reading added a sell button, and the voice channel filled with the sound of members checking whether they had heard correctly.

"Our entire build is based on not finding that button," said the guild leader. "You cannot introduce an interface change that invalidates three years of personality." A new recruit suggested that nobody was required to use it. The leadership team marked this as an advanced question and moved it to a private channel without the recruit.

The guild's lore keeper explained that diamond paws were a cultural identity, not merely a menu preference. To demonstrate, he equipped a cosmetic pair of enormous gloves that prevented his character from opening any menu at all. Members praised the commitment, then spent the next hour trying to invite him back into the meeting.

A compromise patch renamed the button Review Options. This was rejected for implying that options existed. Another hid it behind a puzzle, but the guild's most vocal opponent solved the puzzle immediately and refused to explain why. The developer offered to make the control configurable. The guild demanded a vote on whether configuration was compatible with conviction.

The final patch removed every action button and replaced the inventory with a framed screenshot. Members declared the game perfect. When somebody asked how they would collect next season's loot, the leader announced that functionality had never been the point and commissioned an even larger pair of gloves.
